Every curve, column, and corbel of this jharokha tells the story of a living tradition — one born in the sandstone courtyards of Rajasthan's merchant havelis and royal palaces, where windows were never merely functional, but deeply ceremonial. Carved by hand from seasoned mango wood, this wall-mounted jharokha replicates the layered architectural grandeur of the region's iconic projecting balcony windows, complete with a cusped inner arch, flanking turned pillars, and a crowning chattri finial. The surface is alive with detail: geometric lattice panels at the base echo the jaali screens of Shekhawati mansions; floral medallions bloom across the spandrels; and scrolling brass volutes at the crown catch the light with an almost architectural authority. Six brass pendant finials hang from the lower shelf — a motif borrowed directly from the decorative eaves of haveli facades — grounding the piece with a jeweller's sensibility. The warm amber tones of the wood, deepened by a hand-applied antique finish, contrast beautifully against the burnished gold of the brass elements. As a wall installation, this jharokha commands presence. Mounted in an entryway, it frames a deity, a cherished artwork, or simply the space itself — functioning as both a decorative object and an architectural statement. It brings the soul of Rajasthan's built heritage into the contemporary interior with a dignity that transcends trend.
